Jack's First Steps

Over the past week Jack has began to stand by himself, bouncing and dancing. In the last couple days he has atemped taking a few steps. Adam and I are very excited about this of course, so tonight we pulled out the video camera and caught a few of Jack's first steps on tape! Jack is so proud after he takes a few steps he claps for himself, we are proud of him too!

Jack's First Birthday

Jack turned one on October 11th. It's crazy to think that a year ago Jack was born...what a year it has been!

Jack's birthday fell on the Tuesday after the Thanksgiving weekend this year. We headed off to Saskatoon to spend the weekend with family. Unfortunetly Adam's aunt Marilyn passed away on Thursday before the weekend. She ment a lot to all of us, so it was a very hard time for Adam and I and of course his family in Saskatoon. We are so glad that she had the oppurtunity to meet Jack, and we know that she loved him so much! She will be missed dearly, but we know that she is no longer suffering.

Jack and Auntie Mar in Septmber

Because of Auntie Mar's passing it was a weekend full of mixed emotions. All of Adam's family was home for the funeral on Wednesday, and my family came up from Battleford to have Thanksgiving dinner at Giseles. Adam, Jack and I spent the first couple days of our weekend at Gisele's with the Bauche family. We had a delicious thanksgiving dinner on Sunday night followed by cake, pumpkin torte, pumpkin pie, and pear tarts, and presents.

We spent the rest of the weekend with Adam's family. On Tuesday we had a birthday party for Jack at his Great Grandma Dorothy's house. I tried to make him a homemade Bert and Ernie cake, but it was a disaster and I ended up throwing it in the garbage and buying him a sheet cake from the co-op and drawing Bert and Ernie on the top. BUT the icing I used to draw them started melting into the cake and by the time we had cake you couldn't even read the Happy Birthday Jack. Ooooh well! It all worked out and it was delicious.

Jack got sooo many gifts, including books from his Auntie Mel and Uncle Andy from Thailand! He cleaned up in the toy section including trucks, fraggles and singing dolls that dance and FREAK Jack out so much he cries everytime we turn it on, got enough pjs to get him through the winter, sweaters to keep him warm, socks and jeans, lots of books, a Raffi CD, and probably much more that I am forgetting! His Auntie Dani got him a card with a dancing baby in it, it actually moves, and everytime we would open it Jack would shiver then start crying! It was sooo cute, but he was really freaked out by it.

Videos from the weekend to follow!

A Change of Seasons

September has been a busy month for the our little family. Adam is doing his internship in an elementary school, he is really enjoying being in the classroom working with kids, but it has been a lot of work and his planning takes up a lot of his time at home. I am back in classes and loving it! I am in two studio classes, a 3D and a 2D class (I am loving having the oppurtunity to be doing art on a regular basis agian), a visual art education class, and a philosophy class. Jack is going to daycare at a woman's home who lives about ten seconds from out front door. He is doing so so well at daycare and Ashley, the babysitter, has told us that Jack is a perfect baby, and she would be sooo happy if all her kids were as good as him! This makes Adam and I very proud of our little gaffer and only confirm that we indeed have a perfect baby.

Jack and I, with Jamie and Edward, surprised my parents in Eastend one weekend. Jack and Papa Dean had an adventerous weekend with lots of playing outside, dancing, and overeating.

We also had Edward's baptism in Battleford this month. Although it was the end of September it was an absolutetly gorgeous weekend. Lots of family came down to celebrate with baby Edward. He did so well at the Baptism, wide awake, alert, and in a great mood! Jack was holding his hand at one point during mass, but then started slapping him on the top of his head so that was the end of that. Jack loves Edward and always tries to play with him, sometimes too roughly. Jack likes to try to put his fingers in his mouth and poke his eyes. I tell Jack that soon Edward will poke him in the eye right back because Edward is getting big fast! Jack and Edward could probably wear the same shirts (might be a little big an Teddy but not too much).

Jack now has four teeth, his front top two, and front bottom two. It's so cute when he takes a bite of something and there are tiny bite marks in it.

This month has been a little rough for Jackie. He has an inner ear infection and is on his last leg of his anti biotics. I had to take him into emercengy when we were in Battleford because he was feverish and crying from the pain all night. Turns out his ear was so gunky with wax and tried puss the doctor couldnt even see inside. But the medicine has cleared up his ear and he isn't feverish or in pain anymore!

Blueberry Monster

Jack has recently taken a liking to blueberries. He turns into a purple monster when he eats them, with blueberrie juice running down his chin and chest. When all the berries are gone I am left with a purple stained boy who always needs a bath! It's a challenge getting him out of his chair to the bath without getting a purple handprint to the face or shirt!

September Long: A Lake Adventure

So our Sept. long begins a bit rocky. On our drive up to the lake we got a flat time...in Wadena(the town our car broke down last time). Adam changed the tire in the rain in his teacher clothes and we drove the rest of the way on a doughnut going 80. When we finally arrived at the lake Adam and I both had a stiff drink and were ready for a great weekend!

There was a big crowd out at the lake. Adam's parents, two aunts, an uncle, cousins, and grandma. My parents,Jamie, Ryan and baby Ted were supposed to come out, but my dad fell through the sunroom roof(in the process of redoing the roof). He fell about ten feet, landing in the middle of the sunroom, his drill spearing into a chair a foot away from his head. He hurt his shoulder with so far unknown injuries, he is okay, but his painting hand is out of commision for a while. Jamie and baby Edward got colds, so no one from my family came down and it was a Williams Weekend.

Despite cold weather we had a great weekend! Adam, Stephanie, Aryn, and I built up the courage to jump off the dock Saturday night. It was very cold, but it was really fun and well worth it(they threw me the shampoo and I had my washing for the weekend)

Jack went on his first boat ride! He loved it and was humming along with the motor, which eventually put him right to sleep. I didn't even realize he had fallen asleep as the life jacket was so puffy around his face it supported his sleeping head upright.
! Jack also had his first quad and tricycle ride this weekend, both of which he loved

The cabin is all packed up for the winter, we wish we had more summer left to spend out there, but we know that next year will be a blast.
